Transferring (repositioning) Prudential shares between the UK and HK registers
Prudential’s principal Register of Members is maintained in the UK by our Registrar, Computershare Investor Services PLC (“Computershare UK”). In addition, Prudential has established an Overseas Branch Register, for members who are resident in HK. The HK Branch Register is maintained by our HK Registrar, Computershare Hong Kong Investor Services Limited (“Computershare HK”, and together with Computershare UK, “Computershare”). With the assistance of Computershare, shareholders can transfer their Prudential shares from one register to the other, using the 'repositioning’ procedure described on this page.
For instructions submitted via Computershare’s xSettle process, transfers from the UK to the HK register can be completed within 2 business days (HK processing time); transfers from the HK to the UK register can be completed within 3 business days (HK processing time).
Paper Repositioning Requests from the UK to the HK register can be completed within 6 business days via Normal Service and 2 business days via Rush Service. For repositioning from the HK to the UK register, paper Repositioning Requests can be completed within 6 business days (removal only) / 10 business days (re-registration followed by removal) via Normal Service, or 2 business days (removal only) / 3 business days (re-registration followed by removal) via Rush Service.
Repositioning shares from Principal Register in the UK to HK Branch Register
To reposition Prudential shares from the principal Register in the UK to the Branch Register in HK, UK certificated shareholders complete and deliver a paper Repositioning Request Form to Computershare UK, together with the corresponding share certificates. For uncertificated shares held in CREST, shareholders can submit either (i) an electronic instruction through Computershare’s xSettle service, or (ii) a paper Repositioning Request Form. CREST shareholders must also lodge a Stock Withdrawal Instruction through CREST. In respect of instructions submitted by xSettle, shareholders can request for their shares to be deposited into CCASS and then traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange upon receipt. Shareholders submitting a paper Repositioning Request Form may also subsequently arrange a separate deposit into CCASS by contacting their appointed broker once their Hong Kong share certificate has been received.
Repositioning shares from HK Branch Register to principal Register in the UK
Similarly, to reposition Prudential shares from the Branch Register in HK to the principal Register in the UK, HK certificated shareholders must submit a paper Repositioning Request Form to Computershare HK, together with the corresponding share certificates. HK shareholders who hold their HK shares in a CCASS account can submit either (i) an electronic instruction through Computershare’s xSettle service (and deliver the shares to Computershare HK’s CCASS participant account), or (ii) a paper Repositioning Request Form. Unless using the xSettle option, CCASS shareholders will have to arrange for their HK shares to be withdrawn from CCASS in accordance with the rules of CCASS and re-register the HK shares into their own name before the removal of the HK shares can be executed. In respect of instructions submitted by xSettle, shareholders can request for their shares to be deposited into CREST and then traded on the London Stock Exchange upon receipt. Shareholders submitting a paper Repositioning Request Form may also subsequently arrange a deposit into CREST by contacting their appointed broker once their UK share certificate has been received.
