Unlocking Capital for Climate and Health: A Report for AVPN and Prudence Foundation
In delivering our mission of building community resilience against the impacts of climate change on health, Prudence Foundation launches the “Unlocking Capital for Climate and Health” report, an initiative in collaboration with AVPN.
With the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters, the need to raise awareness and support solutions that mitigate or respond to these shocks has never been greater. To address these urgent needs, impact capital needs to be more effectively channelled towards potential solutions at the intersection of Climate and Health. The report provides a landscape review of climate and health challenges, innovative solutions and investment in Asia and emerging markets.
This report highlights the financing gap and misaligned investment flows into solutions that address health impacts of climate change. Health-focused adaptation receives a tiny share of climate funding — only 0.5% of global climate finance targets health adaptation. Particularly in emerging parts of Asia, mobilised capital is far below annual need. Introducing an Investment Toolkit (consisting of the Venture Score Grid, Minimum Viable Score, Macro Risk Adjusters), the report seeks to help investors assess venture readiness and deploy capital more effectively into this space.
