Levela: Building financial confidence, one decision at a time

Think back to the first financial decision you ever made.

How much of your first pay did you spend and how much did you save? Did anyone guide your decision?

Research reveals that two out of three adults globally are financially illiterate.

Most of us are making important financial decisions every day without ever being taught how.

Introducing Levela

The Levela app has just launched to combat these widespread low levels of financial knowledge across our markets.

Developed by Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, Levela is a free learning platform to help people better understand money, how it works, how to manage it and how to make it work for them. Through easily digestible lessons, young people can learn smart money skills fast, build new habits and grow their financial confidence.

Complementing our award-winning Cha-Ching programme for school children, Levela primarily targets young adults, particularly those entering university or the workforce for the first time.

We will also reach underserved communities, including informal and low-income workers, ensuring access to practical financial knowledge across different life stages and contexts.

Building habits that last

Levela is a web and mobile app to reach diverse audiences at scale. It breaks down complex financial topics into six easily digestible lessons on subjects that matter.

Lessons are short, practical, and designed to fit into daily routines to encourage small, consistent actions that build healthier financial habits over time.

Levela is available in six languages and includes a Shariah-compliant version in Bahasa Malaysia.

Nicole Ngeow,
Prudence Foundation Executive Director, said: “Low levels of financial literacy in Prudence Foundation’s markets continue to limit people’s ability to plan, protect, and progress financially. Without a strong foundation, many are left to learn through trial and error, often at a cost to their long-term wellbeing.

“We’ve created Levela to help young adults level up their money skills. After completing our course, they’ll feel more confident about money and able to make better decisions for themselves, their families, and their future.”

Global launch of Levela: first launch in the Philippines

As Levela rolls out across our markets, its first launch in the Philippines marks an important step in bringing this platform to life.In collaboration with Pru Life UK (PLUK), Levela in the Phillippines is supported by on-the-ground activation and storytelling that connects with real experiences.

Seven (7) other markets will also launch Levela later this year, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Ghana, and Zambia.

We’re also launching our “Level with Me” vox pop social videos that reveal how young people see money.
