Nutrition plays a fundamental role in a child’s development, which can impact their future health, wellbeing and behaviour through to adulthood. Prudence Foundation has partnered with the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) to support the School Nutrition Improvement Project (SNIP) which has been running since 2006, to help address the issue of undernourishment among children in impoverished regions of China, to help promote better health and tackle issues of social equity and poverty.
The programme has undergone three phases, which includes the introduction of national policy, “Nutrition Improvement Plan for Rural Students in Compulsory Education”, which tracks and researches implementation of the food nutrition project across the country and provides evaluations and reports with recommendations aimed at motivating action through relevant governmental organisations.
This report provides an overview of the SNIP's evolution over the past decade, including its intervention strategies, model evolution, major achievements, and impacts. On this basis, the report identifies the key factors that contribute to the success, quality, and efficiency of the project.
