Did you know that recent reports by the United Nations and Red Cross show that by the year 2100, extreme heat events would make parts of Asia and Africa uninhabitable for up to 600 million people.

New World Health Organisation data shows billions of people still breathe unhealthy air.

Furthermore, both humidity and air pollution are known to adversely impact health during periods of extreme heat. As the impacts of climate change become more apparent, it is now critical than ever to take action.

In a camp for conflict-displaced people, children cool down from the extreme heat in a makeshift pool in the back of a truck.

Partnering with IFRC Climate Centre to take action
Prudence Foundation and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) through its specialist Climate Centre entered a partnership earlier in February 2023 to explore the impact of air pollution, extreme heat, and humidity on population health.

The partnership with IFRC aims to build community resilience against climate change with an 18-month research project that aims to identify the groups that are most vulnerable to these leading environmental risks.

The findings of the research will also inform how we can continue to develop relevant solutions to improve the long-term health and well-being of the global community, and motivate early actions to improve health outcomes.
