Prudence Foundation is introducing a new video which contains easy-to-understand information to help children deal with stress.

The infotainment called “Stress Busters” by SAFE STEPS Kids, is an animated, 60-second educational public service announcement jointly produced with the Cartoon Network and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The video focuses on children's mental health and well-being by providing simple and relatable tips for children to manage stress and anxiety.

Designed for Asia's young audience, Stress Busters leverages Cartoon Network's original shows including The Powerpuff Girls, We Bare Bears and Craig of the Creek to explain and demonstrate how kids can cope with stress.

Other Stress Buster resources, such as comics and activities, are also available on the SAFE STEPS KIDS website.

Repercussions from the pandemic

Prudence Foundation's Executive Director Marc Fancy said the social and invisible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic meant children today face more challenges and uncertainty.

“Stress and anxiety, if not managed properly, can have long-term impact on a child's physical and emotional development,” he said.

Marc Fancy launching the SAFE STEPS Kids in Philippines in 2019 highlighted the programme’s mission is to equip kids with safety tips and knowledge in case of disaster and emergencies. The release of Stress Busters continues PF’s vision to help children be more resilient.

A UNICEF report published last year revealed that globally more than one in seven adolescents aged 10 to 19 is estimated to live with a diagnosed mental health issue.

Disruptions in education, recreation and family income and health has left many young people feeling afraid, angry and concerned about their future.

Prudence Foundation strives to equip millions of children in Asia and Africa with simple and friendly advice to help them deal with stress and build mental resilience.
